Beardmore
Leathers is owned and operated by the Dawkins family, which has an
invaluable knowledge of leather and its capabilities, a knowledge
that has been passed down through five generations of family history.
The President of the company is Jane Dawkins.
In
1843 the European side of her family began producing leather in
their factory on the banks of the Elbe River. At about the same
time, the Beardmore family founded Beardmore and Co., which by 1915
was acclaimed to be the largest tannery in the British Empire. The
tannery, located in Acton Ontario, covered over one million square
feet in floor space and remained the major industry in town for
close to 150 years. Leather has always played an important part
in Acton's history resulting in the town being known as Canada's
Leathertown.
Today,
Beardmore Leathers of Acton is the manufacturer of leather garments
and accessories utilizing contacts and sources around the world.
Our garments are constructed using only the best value of leather
and are manufactured under strict quality control guidelines. The
company features a corporate division, a retail division and a private
labelling component. With our expertise in sourcing and manufacturing,
we are capable of producing a very wide range of leather products.
We
are proud to have ownership of the Beardmore trademark, an important
part of our own history, and we are committed to uphold a long tradition
of quality, value and innovation.
